Captain Joshua McClimans was born May 12, 1980. In 1998, after he graduated from Jamestown High School in Jamestown, Pennsylvania, he attended Kent State University. He changed his mind from Kent State and enrolled in the ROTC program at the University of Akron. He graduated in May 2003 and commissioned as an officer and entered the U.S Army as a second Lieutenant and an Army registered Nurse.
Josh was stationed in various locations around the world from Fort Stewart, GA; Iraq; and Washington, D.C. while he was active duty. Josh returned home to Akron, Ohio and joined the Army Reserves and worked as a civilian nurse at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital in the ER and ICU.
He is remembered as being a dedicated father with quite an imagination. He loved coaching and he spent countless hours volunteering in the classrooms of his children.
Josh was deployed to Forward Operating Base Salerno, Afghanistan with the 356th combat Support Hospital. He was killed on April 22, 2011 by a sniper walking to start his shift in the ER on base.
