Capt
Captain Francis Imlay came from an Air Force family. Francis was born September 17, 1980 at Hill Air Force Base in Utah and graduated from Lakenheath, England high school. He attended Auburn University in the ROTC program and was named the Distinguished Graduate of his ROTC class. During his career, he flew more than 2,500 hours in the T-37, T-38, T-6, and the F-15E. He was an exceptional instructor pilot at Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas where he was named the 80th OSS Instructor of the Year in 2008. He was next assigned to Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho where he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
He was tragically killed on March 28, 2012 from injuries received in an accident involving his F-15 in Southwest Asia. He is survived by his wife, Tami, and two children. Tami was part of the group of our first Survivors to attend a retreat in 2014 and has graciously returned as a Facilitator in 2015 and 2019.
